As Chief instructor of the New York Aikikai, Yamada Shihan is the President of the United States Aikido Federation and is a direct student of the founder of Aikido, O’ Sensei.

Sugano Shihan studied as uchi deshi under O’ Sensei since 1957 and continued to spread the knowledge of aikido to Australia and then onwards to Europe, Belgium where he first Sensei Pennewaert.

In the mid 1980s, Harvey Konigsberg Shihan established a studio in Woodstock, New York. Since then he has maintained a presence in Woodstock as an artist and as an Aikido instructor.

Chief instructor Peter Bernath is a Shichidan (7th degree black belt) and Shihan (master teacher) awarded by Doshu Moriteru Ueshiba, and a member of the Technical Committee of the USAF.

Robert Botterill Shihan became one of Australia’s three Shihans in 2008 and was awarded the rank of 7th Dan in 2011 and is a member of the technical and teaching committee.
