For 40 years, Aikido Shin Do Kan Dojo in Newport Beach, California has been more than a place to train. It has been a place where generations of students have come together to learn, challenge themselves, build lifelong friendships, and practice the principles of Aikido.

The 40th Anniversary Celebration on Saturday, April 17, 2027 honors four decades of practice, friendship, discipline, growth, and community. We invite current students, former students, instructors, families, friends, and members of the greater Aikido community to come together for an unforgettable day of training and celebration led by Gentil Pennewaert Shihan, 7th Dan Aikikai.

On April 17, 2027, we invite you to return to the mat, reconnect with old friends, meet the next generation, and celebrate this extraordinary milestone together.

A three-hour Aikido seminar from 1:00 to 4:00 PM PST at Shin Do Kan Dojo in Newport Beach, led by Gentil Pennewaert Shihan and open to all levels.

A reception at 6:00 PM followed by dinner from 7:00 to 10:00 PM at the Ayres Hotel Costa Mesa, with a plated entrée selected in advance.

Where It All Began — On the Mat

The Aikido Shin Do Kan 40th Anniversary Seminar takes place on Saturday, April 17, 2027 from 1:00 to 4:00 PM PST at Shin Do Kan Dojo, 2018 Quail Street, Newport Beach, California. The afternoon will bring together generations of Shin Do Kan students and friends to practice Aikido, reconnect with one another, and honor the history and spirit of our dojo.

Whether you have been part of Shin Do Kan for decades or are newer to our community, we hope you will join us for this meaningful anniversary practice.

    Arrive, reconnect with old friends, and meet the next generation of Shin Do Kan students before dinner service begins.

  2. 7:00 PM  —  Dinner

    A plated dinner with the entrée you select at registration, served alongside the anniversary programme.

  3. 10:00 PM  —  Close

    The evening closes at 10:00 PM. Dinner attendance is $120 per guest and is reserved through the registration form on this page.
